Climate Change & Global Warming: Is it real?

Many of us are busy with our own businesses that most of the times we just let things go unnoticed, even the ones that exist in front of eyes. Though the impacts of climate change and global warming haven't really been felt to be significant "in our surroundings", we tend to ignore these issues which are really crucial in the future.

Lets take a short tour to see what is really happening in the other side of the world that not so many people talk or even know about it before. This picture goes viral currently in the social media - a starving polar bear which predicted would die any time soon without being able to be helped due to several restrictions in the law about feeding polar bear and the situation of the conservative team who took this picture in the Arctic.

Polar bears use ice as a mean of survival, where that is the kind of environment that they live and  used to hunt seals and fish. Recently, the majority of ice in the land of arctic has declined significantly, leaving only a small area of ice in the land. Polar bears that live in the land area of the Artic now find it difficult to survive with as the land disappeared, so do their preys.

Sad isn't it? well... that's what really happening in the other part of this world that currently deals more with the impact of climate change and global warming. As many of us don't really notice the changes of our climate and the rising of the earth's temperature, terrible facts are just laying there under its occurrence.

Maybe its not our turn yet to feel the scary impact of climate change, but we are about to be. A research by some groups of scientists calculated that by 2080, there would be thousands of people would die from heat exposure every summer in big cities in the world such as New York and Boston if no steps are taken to adapt to climate change and reduce emissions. Maybe some of us are wondering, can we really create a change as ordinary people who don't really have the control over businesses or industries which are believed as the main factors that caused climate change and global warming at the first place? Yes surely we can!

According to research published by several scientist, the smallest steps yet impactful can be started from us by stop eating meat. Do you know? by having meat, it would cost 16 times more resources and energies rather than if we only eat plant-based diet food. Started from simple logic: to have a beef that we usually have in a single hamburger, it requires farmers to feed and give water to the cow until it reaches the age of being able to be processed into meat and other related products. Which contributes to gas emissions and other pollution as the production started. FUN FACT: the excrement produced by cow contains a huge amount of methane gas which contributes in increasing gas emissions which the main cause of global warming in the world.

It would be painful to entirely switch our diet to not having meat at all as it has become one of the culture and habits in our diet. But everything comes with a cost right? maybe by starting from a simple step by reducing the portion of meat consumption, we all could later progress into reducing the impact of climate change and global warming in the future.
