(25 November 2017: Closing Event of IRF 2017)

International Relations Fiesta is an annual event that conducted by the International Relations students of Pelita Harapan University. Every year, IR students promote a new theme for a whole week event that will be held in around October. IRF are an event that targeted to socialize the importance of relations between states, in the world. All of the event are open for all students from any university, especially IR-UPH students, and targeted to develop and improve their academic and non-academic skills.

Danner Jordan Tampubolon, Head of Comittee
This year is a chance for people to know more about a special and closely related region to our own country, Indonesia, as the year’s theme is “ASEAN: The Epitome of Southeast Asia”. As mentioned by Danner Jordan Tampubolon, Head of Committee, on our interview: “This year event is more special than years’ before, because we pick a theme that is really related to our own state, and with proud, it feels so special to spread awareness of our own identity to other people”. IRF 2017, also has made a lot of success by achieving significant progress from last year, in the terms of participants. There’s almost 300 people who contributed in the event’s  competitions and seminar. But on the other side, success can’t be achieve without challenges. As Jordan said, it is really quiet a struggle too, to manage the huge unexpected number of participants. Furthermore, to unite numbers of committee and the re-scheduled event make it more challenging to manage all unexpected problems. For example, this year event held on 19-25 November, many participants’ schedule didn’t match the date and some could not make it.

But well, as we can see in the closing ceremony…

Khazni, Visitor
Hard work will never results a zero! The event attracted people to come and enjoy the closing ceremony. As the interview goes to one of the audience, Khazni, “I don’t know there’s an university event like this. And to be honest, I am happy to know and agree with this event to spread more awareness about what our country do in the international community, because lots of people, even my friends, don’t really know and care about it”. So, people give positive feedback to the show and the event reached its target, to spread the awareness of nationalism through ASEAN , as Indonesia’s identical region.

So let’s wait for the next event next year, see you in IRF 2018!
