On 15th November 2017, Australia finally legalized the rights of gay marriage with majority of votes around 62 percent agreed on same-sex marriage. The country now became the 26th country that formalized gay rights, something that was already official in the majority of English-speaking countries worldwide.
Citizens were celebrating the long overdue hope for LGBT community where parade in the city of Melbourne took place. Loud singing and overjoyed dancing along with happy tears were seen in the faces of people doing the march.
After the result came out, quoting from Australia Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull stating that "it had been an overwhelming response in favor of "yes" and called for same-sex marriage to be legalized before Christmas."
"They voted 'yes' for fairness, they voted 'yes' for commitment, they voted 'yes' for love. And it is up to us here in the Parliament of Australia to get on with it" Malcom said to the reporters.
But the fight for rights hasn't over yet. Now the government of Australia is still in a debate of passing the bill of same-sex marriage with the hope of the community that by the end of Christmas people finally can be freed from strain of same-sex marriage restrictions.
