The United Nations filed a report and accused Saudi Arabia for more than 680 children casualties and the attacks on schools and hospitals, thus Saudi Arabia has been placed on a blacklist for the death and injuries of the children during the ongoing conflict in Yemen for more than two years in a war to rout Yemen's Houthi rebels.
Saudi Arabia's U.N. mission strongly protested last year, when the U.N. secretary general at that time, Ban Ki-Moon, placed their coalition on the blacklist because of the bombing in Yemen, which killed hundreds of children.
According to the draft report on 2017, the Saudi coalition was responsible for the death and injuries of 683 children in Yemen in 2016, while the Houthis who are backed up by Iran, Saudi Arabia's regional rival, were responsible for 414.
Saudi diplomatic officials at the U.N. did not responds to request for comments, but Saudi ambassador, Abdallah Y. al-Mouallimi, has previously said that inclusion on the blacklist is unacceptable.
Watchlist's executive director, Eva Smets, said the Saudi-led coalition is now one of 64 parties listed for violating children's rights and the U.N. must work with all these parties to ensure these horrific violations of vulnerable children are never repeated."
