The new U.S ambassador to Russia, Jon Hunstman, 57, has landed
in Russia yesterday, October 2, after being approved by the U.S Senate.
Hunstman and his wife, Mary Kaye were greeted by the U.S Embassy personnel and
a representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Huntsman has
showed his credentials diplomatic ties as U.S Ambassador to President Vladimir Putin at a ceremony
in Kremlin. He is described as a hardliner in the Russian Press and the
governance.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the diplomatic relation
between Russia and U.S has been damaged by removals of diplomats and
termination of diplomatic missions. Therefore, the Kremlin hopes that U.S
embassy that led by Huntsman will make a contribution to put back a better
relation and developing bilateral cooperation between these two countries.
Before becoming a U.S Ambassador to Russia, Hunstman was the
U.S ambassador to Singapore in 1992 at the age of 32 and becoming the youngest
American ambassador. He then
became the governor of the Utah State in 2005-2009. In 2009-2011, he served as
U.S Ambassador to China.
