On Wednesday 4th October, a trio of Swiss (Jacques Dubochet), American (Joachim Frank), and British (Richard Henderson) won the Nobel prize that was held in Stockholm on chemistry for creating a detailed image of molecules that allowing researcher to see biological molecules frozen in action.

The trio could win the Nobel Prize because the Nobel committee said that they allowed the researcher and scientists to see molecules in the way they had never seen before. They proved that technology had changed biochemistry into a new era. They allowed the protein molecules in our cells to be seen by the people. They use an electron microscope to develop the three-dimensional image of the molecules.
Before this, the electron microscope was only used to see a dead molecules because the powerful beam on that microscope could destroy them. However, the trio found a new way which is to use rapidly frozen water that is called cyro-technology. The frozen water at an extremely low temperatures can protect the molecules from the damages.

The trio thought they will not win the Nobel Prize because there are a lot of other innovations and discoveries. They won 1.1 million U.S. Dollar and they will share the prize to the University of Lausanne, New York's Columbia University and MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge.
